| Patrice Scott - Far Away - Sistrum |
While it can be argued that Patrice Scott's sound has become highly defined, it is equally true that his releases on Sistrum have become must-haves for lovers of deep techno-house. 'Far Away' is no exception, as icy chords, soaring strings and warm, jazzy keys unfold over raw dub beats. Mike Edge's remix is dreamy and wispy, but its reduced beats means that it inhabits a more introspective place than Scott's full-blooded house.

There are some garage-by-numbers moments here but also flashes of brilliance with some great percussive action - check out the 'Spiritual Blessings Deep Dope Remix' where splashy keys dog the beats. Spencer Parker/Ekkohaus - Untitled Head/Learning To Fly - Liebe Detail
|
Nice solid EP from Liebe Detail more directly aimed at the dancefloor than some of their rather delicate releases. Parker's 'Untitled Head' gets straight to it with tough beats and some little vocal snippets that build up with some nice old school filtering along the way. The track really doesn't develop that much but works really well as a tool. 'Learning To Fly' by Ekkohaus is also very tracky,
