"It's such a lovely, intimate, quirky spot," beamed Maher. "Despite it being a Chinese karaoke bar we have a Funktion One sound system in there now. It's a very professional setup!"
A strong weekly addition to Dublin's subterranean scene, Some Like It Deep hold a prime Saturday slot with a juicy rotation of residents and local talent as well as these once-a-month jaunts from Dutch tech hotshots -360 Soundsystem.
This month, 360 are jetting in shining Rotterdam star Edwin Oosterwal - co-owner of the respected Green and Rejected imprints with Joris Voorn.
A producer, a promoter and a DJ, Edwin is a crafty player on the Dutch scene and tonight is a rare chance to sample his orange colours on the Emerald Isle.

An Ibiza reunion like no other, White Isle addicts from across the land will gather under the arches as reliable DC10 veterans David Squillace and Clive Henry take them on trip through twisted techno bends and minimal tribalism.

Fri 03 Apr 2009: GLOBAL Underground's Nu Breed tour pods down in Bristol with a night celebrating Empathy's resident done good -Jim Rivers. Boasting releases on Bedrock and collaborations with Paolo Mojo, Rivers is the DJ chosen to resurrect the Nu Breed series from its seven-year sleep and, tonight, he helps the club that helped build his name celebrate its eighth birthday in its new venue Basement 45.
In its day, the Nu Breed series acted as a vital platform for DJs like Steve Lawler and Danny Howells before they stepped up to the Global Underground series proper and Rivers will be proving he is capable of following their footsteps with a four hour set spanning tech, progressive and funkier, more eclectic beats.
Jack2front and Stuart Wilkinson support, while room two takes a more relaxed turn with a live set from JoAsh serving up nu-jazz and mellow electronica.

Fri 10 Apr 2009: AS the cosmic sound continues to ride high on its renaissance, there's a chance to pay homage to one of the movement's originating figures tonight in Daniele Baldelli.
Indeed, it was Baldelli's excursions across the more spaced-out reaches of jazz, disco and funk back in the late '70s and early '80s that laid the first foundations for the sound. The name cosmic even originates directly from the small Italian venue - Cosmic Club - which Baldelli was resident for during this era.
All these years on, Baldelli's obsession remains rooted in searching for perfectly matched pieces of cosmic sound whether they be disco, funk, electronica, Afro, house or beyond.
It's a deep blend that will be showcased in his forthcoming album 'Cosmic Sound: Another Flying Trip Through The Alchemy Of Music'. Feel it live and in the flesh at Stereo tonight.

Sun 19 Apr 2009: ORDINARILY the domain of Turner winning artists, abstract sculptors and symphony orchestras, Southbank's Queen Elizabeth Hall is tonight transformed into a two-arena celebration of modern electronics and visual art.
The brainchild of DJmag scribe Ben Osborne, the multimedia Noise Of Art venture is no stranger to projects where ambition ignores the accepted boundaries. On just their second event, they turned the Tate Gallery into a two-floor rave space with Soma's Vector Lovers, Spektrum and A Man Called Adam providing the sounds. The have been a byword for audio-visual excellence in the capital - merging performance art, visual exhibitions and some of the most cutting-edge electronic music around.
In the main concert hall tonight, Versatile Records' Parisian duo Château Flight will be soundtracking a sit-down affair by performing their score to 1911 film Les Vampires with back-up from Orca who will be creating their abstract electronica from disused farm machinery.
But for those seeking something more akin to the arm-raising abandon of acid house fear not. In the adjoining 1000 capacity arena, the Deep Space Disco will surely be a sea of moving bodies and raised-arms when DFA's disco revivalists The Juan Maclean perform live. DJ T and Thomas Schumacher will also be debuting their collaborative live show here.
Pushing the boundaries as ever, Noise Of Art will also be transforming the futuristic second arena into a spaceship with the aid of mobile projectionists, 10 performance artists, visuals and lighting effects. You're unlikely to attend another event in London like this so our advice is to get your ticket sharpish.

Sat 11 Apr 2009: MANCHESTER'S seedy warehouses have been precipitating cultural revolutions and inspiring generations of ravers for years. Right from the early '90s revolution of acid house culture, Mancunia - the gritty belly of England that it is - has been honing the warehouse party. As such, WHP won our award for best 'big club' year in our '08 Best Of British Awards so you'd be a fool not to get down and check it out.
Returning in 2009 with four very special nights at Store Street over the Easter Weekend, these will be the only dates at the venue for now. There's recent coverstar David Guetta on Thursday 9th April, Paul van Dyk and Jon o' Bir supplying slices of trance for Goodgreef on Friday 10th April, whilst things get more interesting come Sunday 12th APRIL when rock/electro producers and DJs extraordinaire Erol Alkan, Digitalism and Simian Mobile Disco bring their noises to the darkened, dusty corners of the Warehouse.
But what is really getting us excited is the return of the Cocoon event which rocked so hard here back in November. Sadly, the techno über brand is minus the big chief of Sven Väth but when you clock the sheer depth of the line-up that's fast forgotten. Offering a full cross-section of cutting-edge techno, we instead get a resurgent Timo Maas, Tiefschwarz, DC10's Romanian darling Raresh, Andrew Galuzzi and deeper stuff from Jamie Jones. Seth Troxler and Greg Lord complete the bill. We'll see you down the front.

ZOO PROJECT VS MUMU at STUDIO

Sun 12 Apr 2009: ONE of Ibiza's wildest parties comes together with Liverpool's mUmU to host a special event which is also set to feature the visual delights of The Minx FX artistic performers, who'll be aiming to recreate their inimitable Zoo experience.
mUmU emerged onto the scene in January 2008 and are tonight in a new subterranean venue - Studio. Born out of their dissatisfaction with Liverpool's stale underground scene, a gaggle of ravers briefly forgot themselves, got all proactive, and birthed mUmU. Twelve months on, and a cute selection of underground A-listers have all passed through their cosy confines.
Tonight, Guy Gerber takes the crowd on one of his varied house and techno journeys. Saytek - whose fans include Garnier, Kevin Saunderson, Cox and Peace Division - supplying even more techno loveliness.

Sun 12 Apr 2009: A REAL heavyweight clash, Horace Andy and Ashley Beedle go head-to-head with a live gig to promote their brilliant new 'Inspiration Information' collaborative album. The LP itself features the sweet-voiced Jamaican reggae legend spreading honey toasting and the London house don on decks and effects as well as a full band.
